Sensors applied in offshore wind turbines are especially susceptible to corrosion. In order to ensure longterm durability, Baumer offers DNV certified encoders and verifies the qualification of sensors with salt mist and condensation tests for near- and offhore application.
Offshore capable encoders for position and speed feedback prove their excellent salt water resistance in cyclical salt mist tests according to EN 60068-2-52. The DNV certified sensors guarantee almost maintenance-free operation throughout the entire lifetime of offshore wind turbines.
Furthermore, sensors equipped with high-class materials like stainless steel and teflon as well as special coating systems, are tested for reliable operation in environments of corrosiveness category C3, C4 and C5-M according to ISO 12944-2. The robust sensors can be applied in pitch, yaw, rotor and slip ring for position and speed feedback. Rugged leakage sensors and capacitive liquid level sensors reliably monitor gear box and hydraulic components.
