Diffuse sensor FHDK 10 for glass or PET bottle detection

The Series 10 diffuse sensor with background suppression was developed in particular to reliably detect transparent objects in front of bright, heavily reflective backgrounds.

The unique feature of the FHDK 10 diffuse sensor is that it is a sensor with background suppression that can detect transparent objects. Thus, the user can forgo the reflector that was up to this point mandatory in the use of a photoelectric sensor in this kind of application.

The diffuse sensor has a sensing range of 3 – 30 mm and is adjusted to the different transparent objects via potentiometer. The sensor reliably detects the transparent objects even when there is a bright, heavily reflective machine part behind the object.

A typical area of application is the materials handling industry, e.g. the feeding of bottles or other tranparent containers to the filling station by means of carrier plates. The sensor checks whether there is a bottle in each bracket of the carrier plate before the filling process is started. This application can be found in the food and beverage as well as in the pharmaceutical industry. The outstanding benefit of the sensor in applications where space is limited is its very compact housing and the possibility to forgo the reflector, which would need extra space to install.
