1 – Generator feedback

Incremental encoders by Baumer are proven instruments in generator feedback. Employed in combination with a centrifugal switch they ensure a forced halt when exceeding the speed limit.

2 – Monitoring of hydraulics, gear oil cooling and lubrication systems

Pressure, temperature and liquid level sensors monitor the gear oil cooling system and lubricant circulation in wind power stations. The ultra-precise Baumer sensors monitor the condition of gearing and hydraulic components.

3 – Monitoring the tower condition

The tower of a wind power station is exposed to heavy strain and strong forces. Baumer pressure and strain sensors are the long-term HeavyDuty solution to detect any possible damage well in advance.

4 – Monitoring the disc brake pads

Robust but though utmost precise, the inductive sensors by Baumer are consistently monitoring the disc brakes and give a pre-warning of exchange prior to the pads having been consumed.

5 – Air gap control

The enormous loads on the rotor blades are brought forward straight to hub or, with a gearless system, directly to the ring generator. Baumer inductive analog sensors make sure the air gap tolerance window is kept.

6 – Rotor blade positioning (Pitchcontrol)

Absolute encoders are well-approved in rotor blade positioning. Integrated in the pitch system and carried along with the rotor blade by the yaw system, they enable redundant sensing at each rotor blade.

7 – Rotor blade strain measurement and condition monitoring

The longer the rotor blade, the more important is consistent strain and condition control. Baumer provides cost-efficient solutions by strain sensors easy to install.

8 - Rotor speed and position feedback

The Baumer incremental and absolute encoders without bearings are the alternative solution for rotor speed and position feedback. By virtue of their large hollow shaft diameters the HDmag series can be mounted straight onto the rotor hub.

9 – Liquid level and leakage sensing

Monitoring the gear oil level prevents sudden failure and unscheduled maintenance work. The diversified technologies provided by Baumer enable customer-configured solutions for gearbox and hydraulic systems in wind power stations.

10 – Nacelle movement control (Azimuth)

Absolute encoders or inductive sensors precisely rotate the nacelle into the prevailing wind direction. The broad Baumer product portfolio provides dependable and approved solutions.
