Magnetic Sensors

Wear-resistant, precision sensing of rotary motions, angles and final cylinder positions.

Baumer magnetic sensors are based on the Hall principle or on magneto-resistive circuits. Since they contain no moving components such as ball bearings, they are extremely dirt resistant and show no evidence of operational wear.

Magnetic sensors are characterized by:

  • Precise, absolute sensing of rotary movements
  • Extremely rapid sensing of toothed wheels
  • Reliable determination of final cylinder positions
  • Contact free, wear resistant detection principle
  • Long service life thanks to rugged housings
  • Compact dimensions
  • Easy to handle and install

Contact Free

Magnetic sensors offer contactless operation and are therefore completely maintenance free and dirt resistant. Sensors with fully encapsulated metal housings can also be deployed in oil. Their generous mounting tolerances save both time and effort during installation.

Compact

Thanks to their compact design, magnetic sensors require far less space than their mechanical counterparts. In this regard, they lie totally within the current trend towards miniaturization: machinery and applications are becoming ever more complex, and space must be utilized with greater efficiency.

Fast

Magnetic sensors can reach switching frequencies as fast as 20,000 measurements per second. They are therefore ideal for gear applications, where rotating speeds and directions of rapidly turning toothed gears must be reliably detected.
