"Any material and no contact..."
The range of uses for fill level measurements using ultrasonic sensors extends from pharmaceuticals, via the food and beverage processing industry to wastewater treatment plants and gravel works. Depending on the size of the sensors the reception range varies from a few centimeters to several meters. What is measured may be liquids, creams or pastes or granular materials such as cereals, sand or gravel.
Ultrasonic sensors work contact-free, which protects the sensor from wear and tear and aggressive fluids, but also protects the material from contamination. They are very tolerant to dirt such as dust, smoke, steam and fluff.
