HeavyDuty encoder POG 86E in its robust housing made of non-varnished, corrosion-proof aluminium excels by cost reduction and yet the same outstanding reliability.

Encoder expert Baumer has further expanded their HeavyDuty encoder portfolio. Newcomer POG 86E concentrates on the essential: pure function in corrosion-proof aluminium housing. The user benefits: significant cost reduction at the same high reliability in demanding applications.

Thanks to present-day corrosion-proof aluminium alloys, fan guards, connecting parts and PG glands used at modern electric motors no longer require protective varnishing. Forgoing on such protection layer where not required eliminates a significant cost factor. POG 86E adds a solid shaft variant to the established HeavyDuty encoder family HOG 86. The bare aluminium housing is especially interesting for manufacturers and users not needing varnished components or who arrange for priming and varnishing in-house.

Encoder POG 86E lives up to all performance promises in HeavyDuty. The solid housing with walls of more than 10 mm thickness protects the electronics against strong mechanical impacts. Generously dimensioned ball bearings on both shaft ends compensate high radial and axial loads up to 350 respectively 250 N and achieve a far superior life time endurance than conventional encoders with one-side bearing concept.

The optical sensing principle with up to 5000 ppr resolution is insensitive to magnetic fields, withstands extreme temperature fluctuations and adverse ambient conditions while ensuring consistently high signal quality and clear measuring results. For safety-relevant applications there is a twin-encoder variant with two individual, galvanically isolated encoders sharing a common shaft and housing. This will improve system uptime and furthermore leaves the option to select each encoder with another resolution.

Like all Baumer encoders of the POG series, POG 86E comes in 11mm solid shaft design and with Euro flange B10 being the international mounting standard for HeavyDuty encoders. HOG86 E variant comes with blind hollow shaft up to Ø16mm.

Baumer offers a one-stop portfolio of incremental HeavyDuty encoders. Within the 86 product family one is sure to find the matching HeavyDuty encoder for any particularly demanding application.
