Precondition for maximum travel convenience is excellent control quality, which in turn is solely ensured by high signal accuracy output by the feedback encoder at the lift motor. Thanks to high-precision mechanics down to the μm range, the Baumer optical encoders of series EFL580 BiSS C provide excellent signal quality which allows for position resolutions of two million steps per turn. Thanks to high-integration design and components selected to go into several product series, the EFL encoders stand out by their cost-efficiency and excellent signal quality. Precise optical sensing technology acquires the absolute rotor position with 13 bit singleturn resolution. All-digital speed feedback is mastered by resolutions up to 21 bits and fast transmission rates up to 10MHz. Optional analog SinCos signals with 2048 periods per turn are also available. Besides secure, CRC-protected transmission, the high-speed BiSS C protocol provides bi-directional communication for acquisition and preset of the absolute position and offers varied diagnostic functionalities.
The EFL series incorporates one single Opto-ASIC integrating all basic functionalities of optical encoders such as position feedback, signal processing and communication interface. High-integration design and the limited number of components ensure maximum encoder service life at improved resistance against shocks and vibration. The ShaftLock bearing design proven in practice for more than 15 years and large high-quality ball bearings prevent the bearing pack from unwanted misalignment. The metal support between the bearings protects the sensing unit against impacts by axial shocks and loads and prevents expensive downtime and repair for maximum encoder service life.
