What makes the ultrasonic sensors so robust and flexible?
The new U500 and UR 18 ultrasonic sensors from Baumer are more robust than ever and highly cost-efficient. Due to a hermetically sealed sensor element with an extremely robust PEEK foil, the ultrasonic sensor becomes considerably more robust. Thanks to the OneBox design, they are identical in design and size to their optoelectronic pendant O500, offering the user maximum flexibility in the planning phase or for later retrofitting measures.

Ultrasonic distance sensors provide reliable information about their absolute position or measure levels. They measure independently of color or transparency of the objects and extremely contamination resistant.
The measuring version of the U500 enables monitoring of the diameter of rolls regardless of their color, reflectance and transparency.
Sag monitoring/loop control
U500 sensors measure loop depth even for transparent foils, thus controlling material supply in the machines.
The distance measurement is based on a time-of-flight measurement. The sensor calculates the time between sending and receiving the reflected sound signal. Advantage:Immunity to moisture, light, steam or object color
