The innovation offensive launched by Baumer pays off. The sensor expert was able to post record sales of more than 500 million euros. The new High-Tech Center Bodensee located in Stockach made a vital contribution.

Annual sales amounting to 500 million Euros mark another milestone in the company history of the Baumer Group. 20 percent growth is evenly spread over international sales and industry segments. The Swiss globally acting and family-owned Baumer Group with 2900 employees worldwide is a developer, producer and distributor of smart sensors for production and process automation.

Smart sensor solutions boost growth

"In the past fiscal year, growth was mainly driven and boosted by the numerous innovations and new developments we added to our broad portfolio of smart sensor solutions to strengthen our position as a technology leader" says CEO Oliver Vietze. The Stockach location in southern Germany which became operational in 2018 significantly contributed towards the successful fiscal year. The Baumer High-Tech Center Bodensee is a location for engineering and production of smart sensors and in parallel the Baumer logistics hub for deliveries throughout Europe. Especially in a year with unstable supply chains, this modern logistics center with fully automated centralized warehousing has played a vital role in the reliable delivery performance that Baumer is appreciated for by the customers. The continuously growing teams of developers for smart sensor solutions drive the innovation offensive of the technology company even further.

Also at the Frauenfeld Headquarters in Switzerland Baumer invests in the future. The new Innovation Center of the sensor expert will provide state-of-the-art workplaces at a cost of 20 million Swiss francs. The energy and resource-saving building with solar shell and use of geothermal energy reflects the company claim "Sustainable automation – shaping a great future together".

Well equipped to deal with difficult times

CEO Oliver Vietze is convinced that the company strategy of high vertical integration and long-term lean strategy will pay off. Even though upcoming months are likely to be ever more difficult, Baumer is well prepared for the future thanks to sustainable investments in new products and process digitalization. "As a reliable family business, we focus on the long term to benefit from opportunities which always present themselves, even in turbulent times," Vietze said. Factory automation will drive growth further, he said, since "smart production starts with the sensor."
