Force or strain sensor?
Which sensor is the right one for your force measurement?
In general, strain sensors are always interesting when large forces above 10,000 N are measured and when force sensors placed directly in the force flow would be very large and complicated to implement. The use of strain sensors can also be a good option for forces starting at 1000 N if force sensors are difficult to install in the design at hand. Force sensors are interesting for smaller forces or when forces are to be determined directly.
The following table compares the advantages and disadvantages of strain sensors and force sensors.
With its extensive product portfolio of strain sensors and force sensors from 50 N to 1000 N, Baumer covers a multitude of applications.
