Portfolio of ultrasonic distance sensors
The toolbox for all needs

Ultrasonic distance sensors precisely determine the distance to an object by measuring the propagation time of ultrasonic sound waves. The Baumer toolbox of ultrasonic sensors is unrivalled on the market and provides the right design, performance features and interface options for every application. This ensures reliably precise measurement results in every situation.

A real innovation is the Baumer NexSonic® technology the latest generation of ultrasonic sensors is based on: Ultra-flat UF200 for front mount, extremely compact U300 (cubic) and UR12 (cylindrical) as well as the particularly robust U500 (cubic) and UR18 (cylindrical).

Baumer Technology Competence
The selected altAttribute does not exist!

Ultrasonic distance sensors from Baumer are equipped with a specially manufactured sensor element and a specially developed ASIC (= Application-Specific Integrated Circuit), in which the piezo element with the ASIC is directly connected to the matching layer/membrane. Benefits:

•    Shorter paths and hence improved electromagnetic compatibility
•    The evaluation electronics is more compact and closer to the sensor element, which allows for more rapid and reliable signal evaluation
•    More stable and noise-free signal quality
•    Additional filter functions for suppressing sources of interference such as agitators.

This why the Baumer ultrasonic distance sensors are among the fastest and smallest available on the market. Distance-related gain ensures consistent signal quality throughout the entire detection range and at the same time cuts down on the blind range - in other words, Baumer sensors offer the best ratio of detection versus blind range.

How does an ultrasonic sensor work?

Ultrasonic sensor know-how

Ultrasonic sensors utilize the measured propagation time of ultrasonic signals. They transmit high-frequency sound waves which reflect on an object. The objects to be detected may be liquid or in grain or powder form. Ultrasonic sensors unambiguously detect transparent and other objects difficult to detect.
