„No current, no internet, but cold showers and a great time“

From July 9 to 14th, 2017, the trainees of Baumer Frauenfeld attended the annual camp event on the Alp Loasa in the Ticino. The camp work comprising several projects to support mountain villages makes a valuable contribution to society. Working together in nature and living together for a week strengthens the group feeling among the trainees.

A report:

„We went to the Ticino by train and the remaining few kilometers to the Alpe Loasa on foot. All week long,  Uta and Pius were on our side and gave us a hand. They showed us round the alp and the camp with outdoor shower, toilet, the main house, the grotto (refrigerator) and the animals. We were split into groups and each was given an individual task. One group was responsible for building a wall, another for haying, a third one for transporting wood, stones and ground while group number four was in charge of cooking. It was very hot, so we made siesta at noon and  worked longer in the evening. After dinner, we usually gathered in the common room to play cards. Some of us went to see the Mussolini Gate, but it was not as spectacular as expected. It resembled a tall and rusty garden gate. Some of us went hiking to a pond and to the mountain top. Parts of the hiking trails were overgrown by plants and very steep, but all arrived safely. On the last day, we did the cleaning to bring it all up to scratch. Climbing down the Alp was hard, since we had to carry all the luggage we had had transported on our outward travel. We had a great time in the camp with lots of fun. And we are proud of what we have achieved.“
