Multi-faceted and varied applications require laser distance sensors with versatile performance features. Besides different dimensions and ranges, beam formation plays a particularly important role. Thanks to continuous further development, Baumer is in a position to offer the new "multi-spot" measuring principle with three different beam shapes:
laser-point: measurement of small objects with a spot size of < 0.4 mm
laser-line: measurements on rough surfaces with a laser line of < 10 mm
multi-spot: measurements on extremely rough and inhomogeneous shiny surfaces with extra wide laser lines of < 62 mm
In the triangulation principle, the distance of an object is measured by means of the angle of incidence of the reflected light. The angle of incidence changes according to the distance, and thereby the position of the laser point on the receiver.
The time of flight (or also propagation time measurement) is a process for indirect distance measurement by measuring the amount of time that a signal requires to cover the measuring distance.
Based on the principle of triangulation. In conjunction with an emitted laser line and a matrix receiver, up to 600 items of distance information are determined and evaluated in the sensor.
Precise measurements on small objects thanks to focused laser spot < 0.4 mm.
Stable measurements on rough or colour structured surfaces thanks to a fine laser line < 10 mm.
Stable measurements with over 600 measured values on inhomogeneous glossy or very rough surfaces by means of an extra wide laser line < 72 mm.
Powerful algorithms integrated in the sensor make laser distance sensors very insensitive to external light sources. This guarantees reliable, robust operation.
The noise of the output signal can be reduced by activating filtering, thus increasing the resolution.
The measuring range can be adjusted by the user within the maximum measuring range with the teach-in button, the teach-in line or through the display.
