2. Baumer KingCrown – Robust 360° process visualization
Process transparency – anytime, anywhere. Robust process visualization provides real-time information on the process status. Five defined colours indicate whether the process is proceeding as intended, the sensor is switching or if there is a malfunction. In addition, the color can be used to indicate which medium is being measured. Thanks to the 360° LEDs, this information is visible from all locations, allowing reliable processes. With a stainless steel electrical connection combined with the visual status display, the Baumer KingCrown is a robust and reliable solution. The impermeability concept proTect+ additionally ensures the long term impermeability of the sensor technology.

Transparent processes

The 360° LED crown with 5 defined colours (based on NE 107) provides immediate visual indication of the system’s operating status at all times. At the same time, malfunctions can be indicated and directly located. Thus the switching status is clearly visible on location. This increases the process safety and reduces the response times in case of malfunction. 

Thanks to the Baumer KingCrown, the process visualization is clearly visible at a glance in any installation position, without blind spots. What is more, the intense colours are clearly visible in any production environment, even in daylight.

Malfunction / error indication

Reliable in demanding production environments

In production conditions involving high humidity, temperature changes or water spray, greater impermeability and robustness are needed to prevent sensor malfunctions. Designed according to proTect+, the KingCrown is precisely the right solution for this challenge. The stainless steel sensor housing with LED crown for visual status display protects the electronics from environmental influences and thus minimizes downtime and failures. In other impermeability tests, sensors are only tested for water tightness when they are new, but the proTect+ test series initially simulate the ageing effects of the sensors. Only then are the sensors subjected to impermeability tests in line with the IP protection class directives to ensure highest impermeability. The sensor is also distinguished by exceptional resistance to impacts and fracturing during installation and production. As a result, a Baumer process sensor with KingCrown can also be used in demanding production environments.

Test series proTect+

To guarantee their absolute impermeability, the sensors are subjected to extensive stress tests. The following tests are carried out on several sensors:

Air temperature cycle test

Temperature shock test in air across the entire temperature range of the sensor with 50 temperature cycles.

Temperature shock test in water across the entire temperature range of the sensor up to max. +85°C.
