Laser line for rough or colour structured surfaces – Measurement stability

Laser line for rough or colour structured surfaces

Stable measurements on rough or colour structured surfaces thanks to a fine laser line < 10 mm.

Repeatability

Repeatability

The sweet spot can be selected in any measuring range for optimized reproducibility. The sweet spot is the area in the beam path where the focus of the laser beam is located. This ensures the reduction of optical interference effects and thus the minimization of the measurement error of the local repeatability precision.

Laser point for very small objects

Laser point for very small objects

Precise measurements on small objects thanks to focused laser spot < 0.4 mm.

Multi-spot sensors for extremely demanding surfaces

Multi-spot sensors for extremely demanding surfaces

Stable measurements with over 600 measured values on inhomogeneous glossy or very rough surfaces by means of an extra wide laser line < 72 mm.

Tolerance measurement

Tolerance measurement

If, for example, the dimensional accuracy of objects needs to be checked, a direct tolerance measurement and thus the deviation from the target measurement can be determined directly by teaching a reference.

Distance measurement

Distance measurement

In the case of distance measurement, the sensor is ready to use immediately and gives the distance from the sensor to the object. The measured value can, for example, be used for the precise positioning of objects or for controlling a system. Optionally, a digital output can be parameterized.

Ambient light immunity

Reliable measurement despite challenging ambient conditions

Thanks to an intelligent method for ambient light suppression, the laser distance sensors from Baumer are exceptionally resistant to critical ambient light effects.

Independency of surface

Independency of surface

The optical distance sensors by Baumer automatically adapt to different object colors and brightness levels by optimizing their exposure time accordingly. This makes them independent in terms of the reflectivity of an object.

Sync-in / triggering

Sync-in / triggering

The measurements of several sensors can be synchronized through the sync-in input. For thickness measurements, two sensors can be triggered simultaneously in synchronous mode through the sync input. In asynchronous mode, on the other hand, several sensors that interfere with each other in an application can deliberately be operated one after the other.

Programmable filter functions

Programmable filter functions

The noise of the output signal can be reduced by activating filtering, thus increasing the resolution.

Programmable measuring ranges

Programmable measuring ranges

The measuring range can be adjusted by the user within the maximum measuring range with the teach-in button, the teach-in line or through the display.

Configurable switching output

Configurable switching output

A switching output should switch as soon as a defined measured value exceeds or falls below the set level. For a reliable switching signal, the hysteresis (difference between the switching point and the return switching point) can be parameterized in millimeters in absolute terms. The safe operation of your system is guaranteed, regardless of the position of the object in the field of view.

The selected altAttribute does not exist!

Standardization

The Ethernet TCP/IP interface with PROFINET (conformity class B), Modbus TCP, UDP streaming, OPC UA and EtherNet/IP integrated in the sensor head simplifies the integration and configuration of the devices.

The selected altAttribute does not exist!

Standardization

Directly integrated into the sensor head, the digital interfaces facilitate integration and configuration of the sensors. Without the need for any additional controller units.

Configurable switching output – Categorization of measured values

Categorization of measured values

An additional switching output offers the possibility to categorize measured values (exceeding / falling below a value). The parameterization of a point or window mode including adjustable hysteresis is available for this purpose.

Suppression of interference signals

Suppression of interference signals

The measuring range of the OM70 can be limited within the maximum measuring range limits. Using the display of the line signal in the web interface, an interfering peak can easily be faded out.

Laser line for rough or colour structured surfaces – Measurement stability

Measurement stability

The stability of the measured values can also be guaranteed on rough and structured surfaces thanks to the fine line beam shape. Thus, not the structure itself, but the object to be measured can be reliably measured.

Precise distance measurement

The operational principle of triangulation in combination with intelligent evaluation algorithms ensure highest precision up to the micrometer range.

Adjustable filter function

Optimized results thanks to parameterization

Optimal measurement results are provided by a variety of parameterization options, such as filters or the suppression of invalid measurement results that are available in the entire portfolio, guaranteeing absolutely reliable measurements.

Compact – precision in minimum space

Compact – precision in minimum space

  • Compact design allows flexible design-in without compromises.
  • Precise measurement results even on changing surfaces due to the automatic adjustment of the exposure time.
  • Particularly reliable measurement on structured material thanks to the line beam shape.
Easy-to-use – intuitive parameterization

Easy-to-use – intuitive parameterization

  • Simple sensor optimization to the respective application thanks to intuitive parameterization.
  • Visualization of the measurement results allows quick live analyses and simplifies the application development.
Connected– an eye on process parameters

Connected– an eye on process parameters

  • Increased process transparency through additional data via the integrated IO-Link interface or RS485 with Modbus RTU protocol.
  • Quick integration thanks to the use of the standardized IO-Link smart sensor profile (DMS).

Miniaturization

A sophisticated electronic concept allows precise measurement of distances coupled with a particularly small sensor volume. With the OM20, Baumer is offering the smallest laser distance sensor on the market.

Dynamic measurement

The performance laser distance sensors can process recorded values parallel to recording a new measured value. Not only compact, but also fast.

Laser point for very small objects

High reproducibility on miniature objects

The measurement of miniature elements is no problem for the OM70 thanks to its highly focused spot beam. The diameter of the spot is minimized in the sweet spot (focus), and thus the spot can be placed on the object itself. Measurement errors from adjacent surfaces are eliminated.

Reliability even on optically demanding materials

Dark or glossy surfaces are a challenge for most optical distance sensors. Not for the OM70. The OM70 is equipped with a particularly sensitive line that can evaluate even the smallest light quantities. It allows reliable measurement even on demanding materials.
