Reliable, high-performance ultrasonic sensors with integrated setting and filter options
Reliability due to integrated setting and filter options
The next generation of ultrasonic sensors excels with reliability in any situation due to the integrated setting and filter options via IO-Link interface. The unique combination of the narrowest blind zone on the market combined with the large sensing range provides new freedom in machine construction by simplified design-in.
Tutorial | Ultrasonic sensors U300, U500, UR18
The integrated settings and filters allow the ultrasonic sensors to be optimally adjusted to the application. This not only reduces the variant diversity but also ensures an even more reliable solution. The video shows the following examples:
The flexibly adjustable sound cone for a stable measurement
The reliable double sheet detector
The interrupt filter using the example of a clock unit
Your benefit
Flexible parameter adjustment of the sensor to the object and the application
Targeted adjustment of the sonic beam width - narrow sonic beam for small openings and wide sonic beam for the detection of uneven objects
Stable measurement results through adjustable filter functions
Filtering the data enables the optimum compromise between speed and stability of the measurement signal - no filtering to detect fast objects and strong filtering for small, irregularly shaped objects
Individual adjustment of sensor properties
Activating or deactivating the teach-in command to prevent changes in the machine in the field or activating/deactivating the LEDs to avoid unwanted signals during machine operation
Reliable measurement results even with sensors that are operated in close proximity to each other
Configuration of the output signal behaviour or pin 5 to activate the synchronization function
Time saving during teaching
The teach-by-value function enables the central setting of the switching window or analog signal curve without the objects having to be placed in front of the sensor or the machine having to be put into operation
Using additional data effectively
IO-Link offers the acquisition of additional data such as distance signals received with a switching sensor and transmitted as digital values for error- and offset-free measurements or also object counting to assess the efficiency of the machine
Predictive maintenance
Capture advanced values such as signal strength, temperature or histograms to enable predictive maintenance and avoid downtime
Fast sensor exchange
Parameter server functions enable simple and fast sensor exchange and duplication of parameter data
Applications
Object detection and level measurement with individual sonic cone adjustment
On-site adjustment of the sonic beam width depending on container opening and filling medium. Optimal result with a narrow sonic beam through narrow openings or reliable detection of the part presence with a wide sonic beam, e.g. in the part bunker.
Object detection with stable signal thanks to filter function
Presence detection and degree of filling, e.g. of a bottle table. The adjustable filter function allows to find the optimal compromise between speed and stability of the measuring signal.
Diameter control with simple parameterization by teach-by-value
Monitoring of the diameter of rolls independent of color, reflection and transparency. With the teach-by-value function of IO-Link, the switching points of the same sensors can be easily parameterized in different machines without having to put the machines into operation.
Object detection directly next to each other
With the synchronization function it is possible to operate several sensors in close proximity to each other without the risk of disturbances. This means that the sonic beam of the sensors standing directly next to each other do not influence each other. The synchronization function can be triggered either by an external signal or by a command via IO-Link.
Object detection and counting
Reliable detection and counting of transparent bottles in a packaging system. The signal is transmitted over several meters to the PLC.
Flexible parameterization
Variable sonic beam
Targeted adjustment of the sonic beam width
Narrow sonic beam, for even smallest openings
Large sonic beam, useful for averaging over big surface areas
Setting via IO-Link
Switching points
Free selection of the measured values at which the sensor is to switch
Definition of a switching window
Setting via IO-Link and qTeach
Adjustable measurement range
Limitation of the measuring range to increase the resolution of the analogue output
Setting via IO-Link and qTeach
Adjustable filter function
Filter function reduces noise for more stable measurement results
Strong filtering, e.g. for the detection of bulk materials or for the best possible accuracy
No filtering, e.g. for the detection of fast objects
Setting via IO-Link
Configurable switching output
Parameterization of the hysteresis (the difference between the switching point and the reset point), setting via IO-Link
Setting the switching behavior (NO or NC), setting via IO-Link and qTeach
