Smart sensor solutions ready to test: At this year's SPS automation trade show (November 14-16), sensor expert Baumer is offering new opportunities to explore its extensive Sensor Solution Toolbox. In the “Sensorwerkstatt” (Sensor Workshop) next to the main booth, visitors can find out how easy it is to solve demanding automation tasks with Baumer sensors. "After all, our sensors and software not only offer many smart functions, they are also very easy to work with. We want to demonstrate this at the SPS with the Sensor Workshop," says Baumer CEO Oliver Vietze. At three stations, visitors can test highlight products for themselves or in dialog, for example the smart 2D profile sensors of the OX series, the new sensor class for positioning and inspection tasks. Right next to it, the Baumer connectivity experts will do live demos of how easy it is to connect and parameterize IO-Link devices. Another topic of the Sensor Workshop will be the powerful photoelectric sensors and photoelectric proximity switches for assembly and handling technology.

At the main SPS booth in Nuremberg (Hall 4A, Booth 345), Baumer will showcase its latest solutions for intelligent factory and process automation:

  • Point level detection with maximum reliability: Contact-free detection of point levels through container walls – where conventional sensors reach their limits with films and residues, the new PL240 capacitive sensor guarantees reliable point level detection thanks to a novel measuring principle. Regardless of whether plastic or glass containers, the sensor is unimpressed by residues and condensate in wall thicknesses up to 6 mm.
  • Simply code reading: The IDC200 camera-based multicode reader identifies all common 1D and 2D codes, offering efficient options for identifying and tracking components and products. The compact device is ready for use in just a few seconds: connect it via USB-C cable, enter the IP address in the web interface and press auto setup.
  • Positioning and inspecting with minimal effort: With the smart 2D profile sensors of the new sensor class OX series, a variety of demanding positioning and inspection tasks can now be solved in a very economical way. A comprehensive set of tools enables complete processing of the profile data directly in the smart sensor.
  • High-performance inductive sensors: Unmatched accuracy, very compact designs and added value through fully digital sensors with IO-Link Dual Channel are offered by the unique portfolio of Baumer inductive sensors. As SPS highlights especially for confined installation spaces, Baumer will show the new cubic models of the IF200 and IF250 series with unsurpassed performance. Although only up to 6mm thin, distances of 12mm are achieved.

  • Economical photoelectric sensors: With more power reserve for reliable object detection, the newly developed O330 sensor family comes up with additional user-friendly features to facilitate design-in. The O330 expands the uniquely broad product range for assembly and handling with a particularly economical and powerful optical sensor in a space-saving design.
  • Safe positioning with certified encoders: Baumer continues to expand its leading position in magnetic encoders. The particularly robust EAM580RS encoder in certified safety design simplifies engineering and system acceptance in safety-relevant application fields. Another innovation is the unique EB360 encoder. Whether in arctic cold or tropical heat - thanks to hermetically encapsulated electronics, it reliably detects rotary movements in the smallest installation space in any environment at any time.

Baumer CEO Oliver Vietze: "Smart automation starts with the sensor. This year, it's doubly worthwhile to experience Baumer as a partner for intelligent automation solutions at SPS. In Nuremberg, we are not only showcasing our powerful portfolio, but also providing an opportunity to easily test our highlight products on-site at the Sensor Workshop."
